Africa Hub
To address the lack of connection and integration between regional presences, the CliMigHealth Network will establish hubs to strengthen regional collaboration. The first, the Africa hub, was inaugurated in March 2023 in partnership with Stellenbosch University, due to their existing connections within the region.

Collaboration Strategy
In the current era of poly-crisis, it is crucial to address the complex interplay of climate, health, and migration challenges and opportunities facing the African region. Africa, being at the forefront of the climate crisis, requires targeted efforts to confront these issues effectively.
With the spotlight on Africa due to COP27 being held there in 2023, there has been an increased focus on building regional capacity. The Africa Hub aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, humanitarian organizations, and other stakeholders to collaboratively address these interconnected issues with a strong regional emphasis.
The Africa Hub is coordinated by the School of Climate Studies at Stellenbosch University. Researchers from the School of Climate Studies and the Department of Family and Emergency Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences actively contribute to the CliMigHealth Network, facilitating robust inter-regional collaboration.
2026 marks the third year of the Climate, Migration, and Health Nexus Summer School, held in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Participants can expect engaging presentations by leading national and international experts, alongside interactive discussions, hands-on working group sessions, and more.
